Today, I will be attending a visitation for a friend of ours. His funeral is tomorrow. It is a sad day indeed.
The sad thing about it is that we are aging. We were just talking the other day about how we have lost several friends recently. I had said that it is getting to be checking the obituaries because we now know a lot of the people in there. When did this happen?
I have noticed that not only are we knowing more people who are passing, we are also friends with many of the public officials in our town. These people have been friends of ours for years, but who knew that people we are friends with would be running this city? How did this happen?
I guess I have finally realized that with age comes these things. One day you are a young adult, with a bright future and dreams. The next day you are middle aged and secure in your life. Somewhere after that, you realize that you are now the aging one and you are losing friends to death, and other friends are running the city. It happened in the blink of an eye.
So, enjoy your young adulthood, because you will wake up one day and find that you are now older and not realize when it all happened! In the blink of an eye….
PS. Caveman, aka Kevin Whitt, will be missed by so many people for his great smile and his kind disposition.
