Coconut Oil For Lupus

As you can tell by now, I am sharing some of the things I am using for treating my lupus. I am doing this one at a time so I can share the reason why I use the particular item. I can go more in depth. Today, I am sharing coconut oil.

I use coconut oil in several ways. First, I take two capsules daily for my gut health. I have found it has helped me not to have acid reflux. I know, crazy huh? No more reflux for me. I have lived with horrible reflux for years now. In spite of having a hiatal hernia and a surgery to correct my anatomy to reduce reflux, I still had it. It went away when I started using this supplement.

Second, I use coconut oil to make my own deodorant. It is a paste which I use daily and it controls my sweaty smells. Yep, it is like primal pit paste without the cost. I mix arrowroot powder, coconut oil and tea tree oil and lavender oil for a easy, natural deodorant with none of the additives which can be harmful for our bodies. Think aluminum for instance, which is in most all deodorants purchased today.

I also use coconut oil as a treatment for my hair. Once a month I liberally coat my hair with it, then wait an hour and wash my hair as usual. It softens and gives me shiny hair. I use it on my face too, as a natural softener. Most lotions today actually can dry your skin out but using coconut oil instead is a natural way to add good oil to your skin. If it is too shiny, you can tap it down. I use it at night before bed.

I make my own congestion salve with it too. I use coconut oil with tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil and when I am congested, I rub a tiny bit under my hose and on my chest. It helps if I do it at night before I go to bed. I generally sleep well afterwards.

I also use it in cooking. The coconut oil has a much lower melt point so it is great for using in cooking as it melts quicker and does not have bad things added to it like some other cooking oils (think canola oil for instance). It can be used in baking too, I have used it for cookies and it is great.

These are only a few of the ways I use this oil. One more final thing is I use it on my cats when they have an inflammation of their skin, in summer usually, and it helps their skin, plus it is not harmful for them to lick off either. In fact, I have added it to their wet food so they get the benefits too.

The bottom line is this, coconut oil is a wonderful addition to your arsenal of natural things to use. It can help reduce inflammation and swelling in lupus plus help control blood pressure. If you use it for “oil pulling”, you can help your oral hygiene health and regulate harmful bacteria in your mouth. By oil pulling, I mean you take a tablespoon of oil, and swish it around in your mouth for around 15 minutes. It contributes greatly to your oral health when you do this. I have not tried it because, well, I have false teeth.

Any way you slice it, this oil is so beneficial. I hope you enjoyed this post. I always think that by learning something new each day, we grow. Please let me know if you are enjoying this series of things for use in lupus naturally. If you all like it, I will continue the series. Thanks and have a fantastic day!
